Andrei Sakharov, the Soviet Physicist, argued that we should regard all matter as floating in a sea of energy. Modern physics tells us that the space between the stars and the space between the particles… which make up matter are filled with vast amounts of fluctuating energy: fluctuations that are fundamental to our view of the fabric of nature.1
As August 2011 came to an end and Mother Nature was about to pummel the east coast of the U.S. with hurricane force winds, we travelled south to Charlottesville, Virginia to attend a lecture on the subject of Free Energy. The promotional materials for the lecture stated:
[The ability to tap free energy]…has been known to modern man since the turn of the last century. It could have been providing modern man with free, unlimited energy as well as a profound healing modality and much more.
Hurricane Irene was about to release immense amounts of energy—torrential rains and winds—on the boarded up cities along the east coast of the United States. But we stayed our course in hopes of learning about recent efforts to tap electromagnetic zero point energy—or free energy as it is commonly known. Our interest was to explore the connection between free energy and the subtle substance known as etheric energy in the wisdom teachings.
At the lecture, we learned that pioneers of science and technology of the last century, perhaps a hundred or more, had invented devices to capture electricity directly from “thin air.” It could have been used to fuel vehicles, to power households, businesses, and factories, and to heal the physical body. Potentially, such devices could have provided enough electricity to virtually transform human living and supply the basic needs of people everywhere. The only cost to the user would have been the energy-generating device itself. Once installed, it would provide a free flow of energy drawn “from the ethers.”
Almost none of these designs saw the light of day in the 20th century. Tragically, we learned that the inventors (men such as Nicola Tesla and Dr. T. Henry Moray) suffered greatly at the hands of corporations with interests in energy markets. Some inventors’ laboratories were destroyed by fire; others were mysteriously murdered. Patents were confiscated and no murder suspects ever found. The picture painted by researchers is one of influential industrialists using any means they could to protect their fortunes, amassed from energy systems based on the burning of fossil fuels.
Initially, some of the most powerful business tycoons in America recognized the enormous profits to be made from these ground-breaking inventions and invested in them. But they cut off all funding when they realized that free energy could threaten their stranglehold on the energy sector. Instead, they used their influence to obstruct patents involving the use of free energy. The main speaker at our event, a long-time researcher in the field, said that from the early 1900s to the present, thousands of such patents had been filed. To this day, they remain unapproved and thus blocked from implementation. The motives of the old guard obstructionists are clear. Owners of copper mines, for example, do not want to see the development of machinery that transmits electricity without copper wires—utilizing instead the Earth’s harmonic energy frequencies.
Humanity as a whole has paid the price. Rather than experiencing the enormous gains that could have flowed from free energy, by tapping harmonic frequencies, we’ve lived through a century of disharmony—unceasing war, a growing divide between rich and poor, the death of thousands of species of life, environmental pollution, global warming and climate change. It’s disturbing to consider what might have been, had free energy been placed at the service of the human race. There would have been no reason to make war in oil-rich lands. Free-flowing energy could have been channeled into fighting the persistent evils of poverty, malnutrition, and illiteracy, supplying essential needs of all.
Imagine the state of our world had our species been ready to enter a state of harmony, where the greatest good for the greatest number was the governing principle. Tragically, we are, as a whole, so far removed from that stage of consciousness that our world is, instead, mired in mind-numbing violence fueled by unparalleled self-interest, greed, and competition. Humanity is still under the influence of the outmoded dictum of the purely instinctual man: survival of the fittest. It seems inevitable that this will be our fate until the human soul (the indwelling spiritual Self) awakens to the interconnectedness of all living beings.
As students of the wisdom teachings know well, self-interested behavior—of the kind that would willfully suppress free energy—is rooted in the realm of consciousness. People who see themselves as isolated from everyone else, and whose sole motive in life is to gain a competitive edge and accrue greater personal wealth, have no compunctions about harming others to get what they want. Motives will only change when we awaken to the realization that all life-forms are immersed in a single interconnecting web of energy. The renewed interest of scientists in the zero point energy grid—the source of unlimited free energy—appears to signal a wider shift.
From the soul’s vantage point, it's obvious that energy emanating from the planet’s etheric reservoir (whose cousin is the zero point field) should be transmitted to a world in need without obstructions. The universal energy stream should be clear of corporate meters drawing out profits for the few. It seems inconceivable that technologies designed to tap the freely circulating vital substance of life could flourish in a world still governed by self-interest. This makes it all the more encouraging to learn that new inventions are being developed right now, especially in the field of healing.
A search of the web for free energy, zero point energy, and radiant energy provides strong evidence of a resurgent interest in these fields. Not surprisingly, however, controversy swirls around zero point energy (ZPE) in traditional scientific circles. The new source of energy requires a whole new perspective. A Wikipedia article points out that standard theories of thermodynamics and established views about energy systems will have to be altered for scientists to develop workable ZPE devices. This article states that in order to create a device whose energy source literally comes from thin air, we would have to “alter the system to a different form.” 2
What needs to be altered most is our thinking, our worldview, our basic understanding of nature. Just as quantum physicists learned that old laws of physics concerning dense physical reality do not apply to the quantum field, energy scientists exploring zero point energy are making discoveries leading to a radical change in “our whole cosmology,” in the words of one researcher.
The zero point energy field may be the most compelling news of our time. Not only is it likely to be providing "free energy" in the relatively near future—in terms of electrical generating devices designed to tap its potential—but it is changing our whole cosmology, our worldview, our understanding and experience of existence. It is the true spiritual matrix of Life.3
The term “spiritual matrix of life” echoes what is said in the wisdom teachings about the etheric web of life. As the new era dawns, it is predicted that many people will develop etheric vision and thus be able to see “the next grade of matter”—the vital etheric substance that underlies physical form. What we will all see, eventually, as we open to the subtle world of the ethers, is what human beings are in truth: energy beings evolving in a sea of living energy. We will come to realize that energy bodies are “the inner structure of the outer forms… in all kingdoms of nature.”4
The Tibetan Master, the transmitter of much of the modern esoteric wisdom, wrote that etheric vision and the higher understanding it brings…
…will break down all barriers of race and all distinctions of color; the essential brotherhood of man will be established. We shall see each other and all forms of divine manifestation as light units of varying degrees of brightness and shall talk and think increasingly in terms of electricity, of voltage, of intensity and of power. The age and status of men, in regard to the ladder of evolution, will be noted and become objectively apparent, the relative capacities of old souls, and young souls will be recognized, thereby re-establishing on earth the rule of the enlightened.5
At the heart of this inspiring vision is the idea that we’ll be able to see one another in truth for the first time as we enter the etheric realm. As we drove home the day after the lecture, we talked about what it will actually mean to “enter the ethers.” Outer bands of rain from Hurricane Irene began to spatter the windshield, making it difficult to see the road, but inner vision was opening as we discussed Nicola Tesla, free energy, and what it may take to overcome the unbounded greed of corporate America. Our conversation led to a growing realization that the zero point energy field of the new science is directly related to the etheric plane of esoteric science, the plane which underlies and interpenetrates all living forms.
It dawned on us that the shift in focus from the density of physical matter to the subtlety of energy, among leading-edge scientists and inventors, parallels and amplifies the shift in consciousness toward a spiritual paradigm. For years we’ve been writing about the birth of the higher Self, the spiritual consciousness that will undergird the new era (in our book, When the Soul Awakens, and articles on our website). But it’s eye-opening to realize that the new science, exploring subtle dimensions where distinctions between energy and matter fade, is investigating essentially the same territory pursued by meditators and students of consciousness.
Interestingly, these parallel lines of investigation appear to converge in the region of the soul—the indwelling spiritual Self—specifically through the etheric vehicle utilized by the soul for its expression in the world. This subtle body of the soul is what animates the physical body and holds the atoms of physical matter together, thus allowing the soul to grow through physical experience on Earth. The soul's mechanism, composed of a network of nadis (channels for the flow of energy) and chakras (wheel-like vortices of energy), gives the appearance of a body of light—to those with eyes to see. This light body, called “the golden web of life,” is what connects us to the etheric web—the “spiritual matrix” of planetary life.
In the process of piecing together threads from the wisdom teachings and the new energy science, we discovered an interesting esoteric fact. The etheric body—the subtle interface between the spiritual soul and the physical body—is made of an elemental substance nearly identical to that of the source field of electricity, the source of free energy. It seems that scientists investigating ways of capturing free electricity are actually exploring the “field” in which the soul (consciousness itself) incarnates. Pioneering researchers are moving closer to the worldview of metaphysicians, who have long recognized that we live, move, and have our being in a living sea of energy. Current explorations of these subtle worlds are, in fact, laying a foundation for the science of energy that will flower in the new era, bringing us closer to understanding the nature of the soul.
An excerpt from the book Telepathy and the Etheric Vehicle beautifully conveys the nature of the subtle worlds we’re beginning to penetrate:
All forms are related, inter-related and interdependent; the planetary etheric body holds them together so that a cohesive, coherent, expressive Whole is presented to the eye of man, or one great unfolding consciousness to…[the Guides of the Race]. Lines of light pass from form to form. Some are bright and some are dim; some move or circulate with rapidity, others are lethargic and slow in their interplay; some come from one direction and some from a different one, but all are in movement all the time; it is a constant circulation. All are passing on and into and through, and there is not one single atom in the body which is not the recipient of this living, moving energy; there is no single form that is not "kept in shape and livingness" by this determined inflow and outflow.6
The sphere of vital flowing energy presented here is in many ways similar to contemporary ideas about zero point energy. One scientist describes a ground of being where “a vacuum at…absolute zero is no longer considered empty of all electromagnetic fields….[but is] filled with randomly fluctuating fields…[along] the Zero Point Energy spectrum.” 7 The new paradigm, “All is energy,” is replacing the old paradigm, “All is matter,” for scientists and spiritual seekers alike. The shift involves breaking free of the “atomic” limitations of the dense physical world and entering a sphere of freely flowing substance. It involves tapping harmonious vibrations, which, for scientists, means finding resonance with the harmonic energy frequencies of Earth. For spiritual seekers, it means finding harmonic resonance with the energies flowing from higher planes of Earth and bringing them into our world.
It has been said that consciousness is a singularity8 that interpenetrates the one unified Life of Earth—interconnected and interdependent. Free energy emanates from this unified field, as does the light of understanding offered by the ageless wisdom, which holds before us a vision of essential unity. It says that the soul—consciousness itself—evolves within an “ocean of energies” that “animates every form on the outer objective plane.”9 Within this sea of energy, “the etheric body of every human being is an integral part of the etheric body of the planet itself and…of the solar system. Through the medium of the etheric web of life, “every human being is basically related to every other expression of the Divine Life, minute or great.”10
There is but one life and each and every one of us is a vital part of it. When enough of us realize this, all the energy we need will flow freely for the benefit of all.
